I really love to share you with this story , it is our story ( me & my husband ) and out trip from Toronto to Newfoundland .
Well after staying in Toronto for 20 days , it is the time to go back to our home .
Our trip was on Thursday at 12:10 pm , we arrived to the airport at about 10:30 am , and we found that our trip delayed 30 min which is nothing with us , so we get in the airplane at about 12:35 pm , and here we are in the air , normally the duration of the trip takes about 3 hours and a half from Toronto to Newfoundland (St’Johns) .
So when we felt that we arrived St’Johns , we felt like the plane took a u-turn , we did not understand what was going on???? And here we are the pilot spoke to the passengers ( attention dears passengers please , we arrive to St’Johns but we could not land in the airport due to weather problems so we will go back to Halifax and we will know the situation from there , but hopefully we will flight today to St’Johns ) and you hear ahhhhh NOOOO from the passengers , so another hour to go to Halifax (Nova Scotia) , and at about 5pm we landed in Halifax airport , and normally we thought that we will get out from the air plane and get in the airport but no this is the surprise !!!!
The pilot took his way to the gates place and when he arrived one he took time to let us know what is happening!! Then another announcement from the pilot ( attention pleas , well due to the freezing weather there is a problem in this gate but we will go to another gate to let you get out to the airport so please stay in your seat ) .
Well until now it is normal , then the plane took its way to go to another gate , and then it stopped for about 45 min and we did not know what is happing??
And here we are another announcement from the pilot ( attention passengers pleas , well it seems that the airport does not have staff to take care of you so we will stay in the air plane until we have an okay from St’Johns and we will flight to St'Johns ) and here we hear the passengers said ahhhhhhhhhhh come on !!!
Any way , the bad other thing it was that our seat me and my husband was in the last seat of the plane and I was sitting in the middle between my husband and another nervous man .
By that time which was about 5:30pm , the passengers start to use the washroom and they did a long line to get into the washrooms , which were in the last of the plane that means behind us ,and another thing the airplane service only drinks for free , but if you wanna eat you have to pay five dollars , and we have only 5 dollars cash that time so I told my husband to save them for the emergency .
So one hour went then 30 min then we hear the pilot again ( well ….eehhh … passengers .. I am going to tell you about the situations in St’Johns it seems the drive way for the plane is freezing and they are trying to clear it so we will wait in the air plane until we know when we will can flight )
Oh my God , okay but waiting until when ???? a question with out an answer ???
So we waited for another 2 hours and then me and my husband got hungry so we bought a sandwich and we share it together , thanks God for serving the drinks for free .
Well now I will tell you for how long we stayed stuck in the air plane for 5 and a half hours ohhh yes .
Then thanks to them they allowed us to get into the airport after waiting for 5 hours and a half , can you believe it !!!
So we get in the airport , and we could buy food by credit card , so we stayed in the airport for tow hours which mean until 10:30pm .
So we stayed stuck in the airport for 5 hours and a half and then in the airport for 2 hours , then they made an announcement asking us to go back to the air plane .
We were all happy , so we get back in the airplane and after all the passengers took their place and every body is ready to go home and happy, we waited for 30 min and we felt there is another bad thing is coming , and here what the pilot said (attention passengers please , I am afraid to tell u that we have to wait in the air plane for a whole until we know when we will can flight to St’Johns ) and here all the passengers screamed ( cancel the flight cancel the flight ) and again the pilot ( well I can not cancel the flight so thank you for your patient )
Ahh my God , and they put a movie for us to pass the time , but nothing will pass the time and we stayed in the airplane for another 2 hours from 10:30 pm to 12:30 am .
Then the pilot made a last announcement ( attention please , we cancelled the flight , so every body will get out of the plane and call the air Canada to make a re-reservation for tomorrow and have a nice night )
Nice night they took our night , so we are in a strange city , we do not what to do ?
But we found 4 people we met them in the plane they came to us and asked us if we want to share a van with them and go to the down town and stay in a hotel so we agreed because we are so so tired .
And we went to a hotel and it took about 30 min to reach the hotel , so we entered our room at 3:00 am and we slept .
And the next day we took another flight at 4pm and we made it , we are finally home .
Finally we are in our sweet home.

This reminds me of a trip back from Australia to Europe and being stranded in Jakarta for 24 hours in 1994 and seeing one of the engines of the 747 slowly being dissembled, without any announcements. Luckily we made it back and it will remain a strong memory for ever. This can happen anywhere on the planet and it does not need to be winter for it...

nice story,thank god u r flying in Canada airlines ,not Libyan airlines,at least they told u what is going on, last two weeks the weather was very windy and most of airports close in one day due to the weather,my friend was coming from Tripoli to Manchester in that day and they stay in air plane more than 3 hours without any information after they land in Manchester they found that they were in Paris,and nobody told them that.
THAT IS REALLY FUNNY THAT THEY LANDED IN PARIES AND THE PASSENGERS THOUGHT THEY ARE IN ANOTHER PLACE ..... WELL IT MUST BE THAT EVERY BODY HAVE A NICE FUNNY STORY WITH THE TRAVEL ... THANKS BRAVE HEART FOR PASSING BY ... TAKE CARE

I remember once I was flying from Munich in Germany, to Rome, not sure whether it was 1 hour 30 mins, or more, or less, I forgot.
Everything was good and relaxed, take-off was easy and smooth, the plane was big and steady, the captain and staff friendly and helpful, everything was fine.
The plane climbed higher and higher until it reached a level for the whole duration.
We ate sweets, drinks, and some food, also there was music, or TV, it was really nice, I remember it.
Then 15 minutes before landing in Rome, the captain said whatever, seat belts, etc etc, we will land soon.
Then I could feel and hear the noise of the wheels of the plane coming out, and stretching, in a few minutes the wheels will touch the ground.
So the plane started coming down, lower and lower, you could feel the change in pressure in the ears.
This continued for 3 to 5 minutes, going down, lower, and soon we will be out in Rome.
All of a sudden I heard the engine giving more power, and more noise, louder and louder, and I could feel the nose of the plane, not going down, but actually going up and up, this is how I felt.
The noise from the engines got louder, and louder, and the force got stronger, we are going up.
I didn’t know what was going on when Rome was maybe 2 miles away, had no idea, and was really scared.
We climbed higher and higher again, and Rome was now under the plane.
5 minutes later and everyone was scared, we could see Rome from high up, but we were going in the wrong direction.
Then the captain said: The weather in Rome was too bad, we are now going back to Munich.
To Munich? Can you believe it? Back to Munich?
We did, and when we arrived we had to wait in the plane until the weather in Rome improved.
We took off again to Rome, and all was fine.
( next time you travel, take enough cash for emergency – if you don’t use it, you won’t lose it )

when you got the sandwitch and started sharing it with your husband was that nervous man still sitting between you two? I mean with all this delays you would think he would change seats and let you sit next to your husband!

ohh how annoying! lol.. I know I would be so frustrated if that happened to me. As it is, I am afriad of airplanes and I hate traveling. I am always the nervous girl on the plane!

Your trip reminds me with mine coming from Zurich to Benghazi and met with a Gibli storm -which was actually in winter time, back to Ahtens and then back to Zurich, waiting in the airport for 5 hours until Swissair offered us rooms in hotel near the airport. Such are the pleasures of travelling.
